The Ankle Foot Orthotic (brace) marks our development shift from our long-leg brace exoskeleton (2021) toward orthotic devices designed for better affordability and market entry in compliance with Japanese standards. One of the biggest hurdles in CFRP productization is the cost of producing molds. Adaptive equipment and orthotic devices require user-tailored sizes and shapes, leading to high initial costs which ultimately get added to the unit price. In response, our key project theme was “low-cost mold production” by incorporating digital technologies into design and manufacturing.
