JEC World: Overview
JEC World is held every year in March or April at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Center in Paris, France and, with over 100 countries represented, is recognized as the world’s largest international show for composites. The event gathers examples of composite applications—fiber reinforced polymers such as carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP/CFRTP), GFRP, AFRP, and other fibers with resin matrixes—from across the globe, showcasing what these materials can achieve when applied in various fields and industries.

Expanded insight into trends in the composite materials industry and in Europe
While Japanese fiber manufacturers have a large global market share for carbon fiber materials, Europe, in my opinion, leads the composite market through productization using carbon fiber and market creation. JEC World delivers added scope for broadening knowledge surrounding industry trends (especially in Europe), material applications, and processes.
*According to research conducted by JEC and European exhibitions in 2013, Uchida was the first small-medium company in Japan to introduce a system for automating HP-RTM manufacturing processes.
4.Contact Point for Japanese Industry Professionals
Opportunity to connect with other industry professionals visiting from Japan
Japanese enterprises and companies are still few when it comes to exhibiting at JEC World. That said, Japan ranks number nine in the number of visitors by country and attract many people involved in the composite industry. Due to the expenses of overseas travel, most of the attendees are executives or division heads with decision-making power. As events or opportunities to network with such people are quite limited in Japan, JEC World has earned us widespread recognition by Japanese industry personnel. Meeting people from the same country who speak the same language while in a foreign nation creates a sense of closeness, making it easier to form connections. And many people stay in contact after returning home to Japan.

In this issue, we discussed JEC World, the world’s largest composite exhibition in the industry. Uchida has been exhibiting each year since 2012 and, while this is merely our insight, we hope it has provided a glimpse into the world of composites. We have refrained from exhibiting in the past few years due to the impact of COVD-19 in 2020, but plan to attend from 2023 and are looking into exhibiting again in the future.
